After you finish the main course of laser hair removal (usually 6 to 8 sessions), your hair becomes much less, finer and slower-growing. Maintenance sessions keep it that way.
🧬 Why some hair can come back
- Hormones: testosterone in men, androgen hormones in women, pregnancy, breastfeeding, PCOS or hormonal imbalance can activate new or previously weak follicles.
- Dormant follicles: some follicles are inactive during treatment and may become active later.
- Body changes and aging: the body changes over time, and hair growth cycles can change too.
📆 How often?
A maintenance session every 3 to 6 months, depending on the person, is recommended. You don’t need laser continuously forever.
✔️ What maintenance does
It maintains your results, treats newly activated or fine hair, and prevents the return of the previous density.
⚠️ If you stop completely
Some hair may gradually return. In some cases, regrowth may reach around 30% to 50% of the previous density, depending on hormones and the body’s response. However, hair usually does not return to its original thickness or full density.
